This is the big shot in the Festival photographic lineup. It’s the most filmed, snapped and focused bit of Tamworth. And the tourist centre located here is home to the Gallery of Stars Wax Museum. The 26th star to be immortalised in wax in the style of Madame Tussauds was Troy Cassar-Daley, who was done and dusted off for the 2006 unveiling. Once made in Nashville, the stars are Aussie produced now, and every couple of years a new figurine is added.
The Big Golden Guitar of course is the real deal - a replica of the statuette used for the Australasian Country Music Awards. The 12 metre high statue weighs half a tonne and is made of fibreglass over a steel frame. It was unveiled by Slim Dusty in 1988. Check out their large range of Country Music CDs, have a bite to eat and don't miss the photo opportunity!
