Nominations Open September 22nd 2010

Nominations open today  for the 2010  Slim Dusty Community Mateship Awards and the inaugural Country Energy Slim Dusty Community Youth Award to be presented in Kempsey at the Slim Dusty Country Music Memories Week in October 2010.

“This will be the 2nd staging of the Slim Dusty Community Mateship Award, and the inaugural Country Energy Slim Dusty Community Youth Award open to young people 21 years and under. We are very proud to have Country Energy on board to help us celebrate this very first youth award. Country Energy are recognised for their active role within the community and provide strong platforms for youth development,” said CEO for the Slim Dusty Foundation, Kathryn Yarnold.

Country Energy's regional general manager Mid North Coast, Brian Mclean said that Country Energy is delighted to be supporting the Slim Dusty Community Youth Award in its inaugural year.  "These awards are a fantastic initiative by the Slim Dusty Foundation to recognise younger people in our communities who go above and beyond, adding value to the places we live in." he said.

These awards are an annual presentation to acknowledge and celebrate people within our communities  who represent the values that Slim Dusty symbolised throughout his life,

The Awards, developed  by The Slim Dusty Foundation,   recognises these values of Australian life: mateship, a fair go for all, working and living together, engaging with your community, constantly looking forward whilst learning from the past – and of course, to value your family.

2009 winners of the Slim Dusty Community Mateship Awards, were Mr Brian Sowter and Mr Steve Keir.
