Hohner Golden Harmonica Championships Saturday 28th January 2012 at 1.30pm Honky Tonk Room, Family Hotel, Tamworth
The Hohner Golden Harmonica Championship is one of the longest running events of the Tamworth country music festival. Competitors have to play two tunes or songs. They can play solo (with or without recorded backup tracks) or with the house band. The winner takes home a gold-plated Hohner chromatic harmonica worth more than $500, mounted on a unique red cedar trophy by Tamworth craftsman Noel Smith. Harmonicas will also be awarded for Runner Up Open Section, Winner of the Amateur Section, Winner of the Encouragement Award and Winner of the Audience's Award. The harmonica play-off gets underway at 1:30pm and finish atl approximately 5pm. CATEGORIES: Amateur or Open section REQUIREMENTS: 2 numbers to be played. You can play whatever style of music you like. If it is a difficult or unfamiliar piece please bring charts to assist the band. ACCOMPANIMENT: You have the option of: BIOGRAPHY: Please provide a short musical biography to assist the MC JUDGING: There will be 2 judges; at least one will have experience in both Diatonic and Chromatic playing. PRIZES: 1st: Hohner Gold-plated Super Chromonica Harmonica mounted on a beautifully hand crafted trophy – Value $500 |
