CMR is Australia’s premier Country Music Radio program on commercial radio.
It is broadcast across the 33 outlets of the Super Radio network from the studios of 2TM Tamworth on Saturday and Sunday night (and public holidays).
CMR is the successor of HOEDOWN the legendary Country Music radio program that was the catalyst for the establishment of the Golden Guitar Awards and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Hosted by John Minson from 1965 HOEDOWN attracted a huge audience across eastern Australia via 2TM’s clear channel AM signal. When John retired in 1987 nationally known broadcaster Nick Erby came on board and HOEDOWN was expanded to seven nights a week. In the mid 90s the program was renamed CMR and expanded to the growing Super Network. In Early 2000 CMR was dropped from the Super Network, but reinstated at Christmas 2003 as the weekend overnight program with Nick Erby and Brian Howard as presenters.
