One of the foundation events of the famous Tamworth Country Music Festival – Buttercup Open House – returns in January 2010.  The 33rd Anniversary Buttercup Open House concerts – recognised as the most popular free event of the festival by fans and artists – will be held on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st January.

Buttercup Open House concerts are staged in the heart of Tamworth, at the famous Tamworth Town Hall, right in the hub of the festival activities in Tamworth’s CBD.

"Buttercup is one of the longest serving sponsors of the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Since 1979, Buttercup Open House concerts have provided Tamworth Festival fans with exceptional free entertainment."

"These special concerts boast a variety of performers," say organisers Rural Press Events, "ranging from the superstars of county to rising stars and young talent including the Toyota Star Maker 2010 winner (to be determined on January 17th), the Gore (NZ) Gold Guitar winner, Gore Junior Gold Guitar winner, the Queensland Champion of Champions winner, Victorian Champion of Champions winner and Toyota National Country Music Muster Maton Talent Search winner.

Over the years, many stars, including Golden Guitar winners James Blundell, Carter & Carter and Troy Cassar-Daley have appeared on the stage of the Buttercup Open House concerts. This has made the Buttercup Open House concerts an extremely admired event on the festival calendar.

Darren Carr, Australia’s favourite ventriloquist will be appearing at both the concerts to provide the audience with some hilarious comic relief.

Due to the popularity of the event, Occupational Health & Safety now requires patrons to the event to be ticketed. Organisers have announced they will be issuing FREE tickets next year in various ways. A limited number of tickets will be offered to readers of Capital News, Australia’s number one country music publication. Readers will be offered the exclusive opportunity to obtain free tickets to the 2010 Buttercup Open House Concerts by filling in a form in the magazine and returning to the publishers by a specified date, nominating their preferred day of attendance to get their "best seats in the house".

More free tickets, again limited numbers, will be made available to fans during the Tamworth Festival, on Wednesday 20th January. They will be available from Coca-Cola Concerts in the Park (Hands of Fame Park). Further information will be released closer to the event.

Any Australasian country music artists seeking the opportunity to appear on Buttercup Open House is asked to contact Rural Press Events on email rpeprojects@ruralpress.com in the first instance.
